Disability Awareness Week starts this weekend

This weekend sees the start of Disability Awareness Week leading up to the big event "Disability Awareness Day" on Sunday 12th July. St George Healthcare Group are one of the main supporters again this year and we'll have our own marquee on the day.

Here's a list of what will be happening across Warrington in the run up to Disability Awareness Day and how to book your place.

Saturday 4th July
10.30am - 4.30pm Launch of DAD 2015
Old Market Place, Golden Square Warrington Town Centre
An Arts Showcase will launch a week of disability related events in the build-up to this year's Big Day.

Tuesday 7th July
9.30am - 12.30pm Positive Action Awareness Event
Walton Hall, Walton Gardens
Students from schools across the area will attend our annual interactive awareness event aimed at dispelling myths and misconceptions associated to disability and disabled people. Invitation Only - Derek Jones 01925 240064

1pm - 4pm Hate Crime Partnership Event

Find out what is going on around Warrington to reduce disability hate crime and incidents. For more information visit

6.15pm 9.30pm Frogtastic in the Park
Arts Marquee, Walton Gardens.
Featuring 2 Ace Tribute Acts 'Gary Barlow & Freddie Mercury' and 'Autistic Superstar' Scott James plus full supporting show including guest Frogtastic club night DJ's.

Come and join the nationally recognised Frogtastic Team as they bring their multi-award winning Club Night experience outdoors to generate the feel and vibe of a real outdoor festival! The event is aimed at people who have learning disabilities, their families and friends featuring Live Music, Dance Floor and Licenced Bar.

Wednesday 8th July
10.30am 3.30pm Ignite Your Life - Mental Health & Wellbeing Workshops & Exhibition

5.30pm - 8.30pm - Party in the Park
Walton Hall and Gardens
A partnership of local children and young people's support groups present a fun filled evening for disabled children, disabled young people, their families and friends.

Europe's largest voluntary led disability exhibition. Over 250 exhibitors from voluntary, statutory, private and business organisations with hundreds of ideas for independent living supported by a fun packed day out for all the family.
