Accommodation and Facilities

St Mary's Hospital is a state of the art purpose built facility, providing 58 inpatient beds, for the rehabilitation of male patients with an Acquired Brain Injury within a medium and low secure setting.

St Mary’s also facilitates the rehabilitation of Deaf people with mental disorders requiring a medium secure environment. Many of our patients will invariably have a forensic history and/or a history of challenging behaviour. Deaf patients requiring low secure and open facilities are now located at All Saints Hospital, our purpose built Deaf only Hospital in Oldham.

St Mary's Hospital has been built to the highest specification and is designed to meet the needs of patients with physical disabilities and/or sensory impairments. The facilities enable a spectrum of the highest possible quality of care to be provided, to meet the identified care and individual needs of patients who require medium or low secure ward environments.

All patients have their own bedroom with en-suite shower, basin and toilet. Each ward has spacious recreational areas, separate television lounge and a quiet lounge, a fully equipped ADL (Activities for Daily Living) kitchen and laundry facilities.

The Hospital boasts a well equipped gym with qualified gym instructor, this facility is available to patients who meet the minimum criteria for gym use, as part of our bespoke advanced rehabilitation programmes some patients are encouraged to use gym facilities in the community.

The Occupational Therapy Suites include arts, crafts, I.T, classrooms and workshops. Also available ADL kitchens and horticultural facilities, our site also benefits from a fully equipped sensory room.

A mobile library regularly visit site and patients are encouraged to use this facility.

A newly built café area has recently been added to the site facilities. Patients will be encouraged to be involved in all of the above areas providing them with a wider scope of daily activities which will be used as a positive tool to aid client rehabilitation.

We have four low secure rehabilitation suites and one self contained assessment flat, available for the assessment of patient’s independent living skills who may require ongoing supervision, due to identified risks or as part of the Care Pathway prior to community transition.
