Physiotherapy Service including sports injuriesThe physiotherapy department at St Cyril's offers out-patient services for a range of disorders of the central nervous system, using theories and evidence based practice, relating to the Bobath concept of rehabilitation. Neurological disorders commonly seen include: Stroke, Spinal cord injury, Acquired Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons Disease, neurodegenerative disorders, neuromuscular disorders, general spasticity management, chronic pain management, chronic fatigue syndrome. Any other condition affecting the central nervous system can be treated, subject to an assessment. Treatment and intervention will involve setting appropriate goals with each patient. We aim to agree on realistic and achievable targets, to engender further progress in the rehabilitation process. Outcomes will not only be dependent on the therapeutic input, but the extent/stage of the pathology or deterioration of the condition.
